Fiber Laser vs CNC Mill: How I Decide What to Use for Kraken Drops
Precision vs Speed. Depth vs Detail. Here's how I choose the right weapon to engrave rebellion into every piece I make.
When you're crafting collectible golf markers that live in vaults - not shelves - every mark matters. That's why I don't just guess whether to use a fiber laser or a CNC mill. I run the math. I test the materials. And I trust the feel.
But here's the thing most people don't know: laser engraving and CNC engraving aren't interchangeable. They're two radically different beasts. One burns light at light speed. The other physically carves with calculated force. And when you're placing engravings within 0.001\" of dead center on a circular object, choosing wrong means starting over.
🔥 What's Inside the Video
In this video, I walk you through:
- ⚡ When I use fiber lasers for surface texture, and fine detail
- 🛠️ When I go full CNC mill mode for speed, deep engravings and perfect placement using probe tools
- 🎯 How I use a center-finding probe to hit the mark every time - especially critical on serialized Blacklist pieces
- 💀 The mistakes I made when I chose the wrong process (and what I do differently now)
If you're a machinist, maker, or just a Kraken fan who wants to see the process behind the madness - this is for you.

Engraving isn't decoration - it's identity. And at Kraken Golf, we don't miss.
