HERE BE - Titanium Golf Ball Marker

The old cartographers drew everything they knew. Where the knowledge ran out, they drew monsters.

In the 1500s the master chart of the known seas was kept under lock in Lisbon. Captains sailed with only the waters they needed. Nobody at sea held the whole map. Carrying one out of the country was a crime against the crown.

HERE BE is cut from a chart like that. One master map, drawn in the shop and never shown. Six fragments are cut from a single narrow strip across its middle: an eye, a coil, a serpent's jaw, a whale's spout, open water, and the edge where the coastline gives out and the black begins. Everything above and below that strip stays on the bench.

Your golf ball marker holds one of the six. The lines on its face run past its edges into water you will never see. It's shaped like a puzzle piece and it fits nothing. That's deliberate.

Hold all six and you hold a strip of sea, not the map. They do not connect!

Solid titanium, laser annealed in blue and black, colors grown out of the metal itself rather than painted on. The back carries the coordinates of where your fragment sat on the chart.

You don't choose. The sea decides which one you get.

The master chart stays in the shop, alongside every design we've retired to the Vault. These stay around at least for now.

Most golfers mark their ball with something a factory stamped out by the thousand. This golf ball marker is one piece of a map nobody else will finish.
